The Knowledge Towns Institute is an emerging policy and advocacy center working to make universities, their communities and their regions more resilient, productive and open to opportunity.
01 / The mission
America cannot afford to treat universities and places as separate systems.
Colleges and universities sit at the intersection of talent, land, infrastructure, research, housing and civic trust. Yet public policy typically treats these assets in isolation—and often responds only when institutions or communities are already in crisis.
The Institute will develop and advance a different model: universities as economic infrastructure, campuses as platforms for reinvention, and networks of Knowledge Towns as a strategy for regional growth.
In formation: The Institute is being developed as an independent advocacy and policy initiative. It is not currently represented as a nonprofit organization.

Maine Knowledge Corridor
An emerging statewide proposition connecting higher education, housing, rail, innovation, workforce and investment across a network of Maine communities—from Portland and Brunswick to Waterville, Augusta and Bangor–Orono.
